Hopefully you have had legendary fun at your wedding ceremony and wedding reception. What comes next? The sweet honeymoon, of course! You told yourself, “I can plan my honeymoon,” and picked the perfect honeymoon destination and booked the perfect honeymoon travel details. You may have done all of these things with “fun” in mind, but it’s important to remember that there’s a serious side to honeymoons. This will be your first excursion as husband and wife, and so taking the proper precautions can prove to be very helpful, or even life-saving.
Travel Insurance
Not all honeymoon packages offer travel insurance. Even if it is included in the package, look over the conditions and inclusions of the trip insurance. It should at least cover cancellations, medical emergencies and acts of God. If you and your spouse are gunning for risqué activities like skydiving, you might want to look into additional insurance coverage. If your personal insurance already covers this, be sure to leave these details to a trusted person before jetting off.
Photocopies and Printouts
You and your spouse should each have a complete set of copies of all the receipts and contracts involved in the honeymoon. If you’re going out of the country, passports and other travel documents should also be photocopied. Have these documents handy at all times in a separate purse or tote; don’t leave them mixed with your luggage (which as we all know can get lost while travelling).
Assign a Conduit
Prepare an itinerary detailing your location for exact dates and times. Put as much contact information as humanly possible for the places you will visit. Leave them with a trusted family member and/or friend. Ask your groom to do the same. You might want to escape from the rest of the world, but you also would want to stay reachable in case something really important happens.
